Biography

Amy Bell is a dedicated optometrist that earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry, following a Bachelor of Vision Science degree from Ferris State University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Bell’s academic journey began with pre-optometry coursework at North Central Michigan College.

With a broad range of clinical experience, Bell completed extensive externships at several prestigious institutions. At the Wyoming VA Health Care Center, she gained expertise in low-vision care, ocular disease, and primary care. Her externship at Henry Ford OptimEyes further honed her skills in neuro-optometry and geriatric optometry, while her time at Will’s Eye Hospital in Philadelphia allowed her to specialize in pediatric care, specialty contact lenses, and ocular disease management. During her time at the Michigan College of Optometry, Bell gained hands-on experience in pediatric optometry, binocular vision, and vision therapy.

As an optometrist, Bell is passionate about providing comprehensive care for patients ages 10 and up, specializing in primary care, specialty contact lenses, and the management of ocular diseases. She is skilled in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions and performing minor surgical procedures, including foreign body removal and punctal plug insertion.

In addition to her clinical work, Bell has a strong commitment to research and education. She has presented research on amblyopia follow-up care and co-crystal formation at various academic conferences. Bell has also been actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Optometric Student Association, the Michigan Optometric Student Association, American Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association.

Outside of her professional career, Bell is passionate about volunteering and leadership, having served as a volunteer chair and peer mentor during her academic years. She is deeply interested in advancing ocular disease management and providing low-vision services to those with advanced conditions. Bell currently resides in Kalamazoo, MI, and continues to serve her community through her work and volunteer efforts.
