Aging and scar tissue can pull your eyelid, causing it to turn inward (entropion) or outward (ectropion). This can cause eyelashes and skin to rub against the eye’s surface. It can also misdirect tears so that the eye surface dries out, and the tears roll on to the cheeks. All these can result in irritation and discomfort. Treatment for Ectropion & Entropion
Correcting either condition usually involves surgery. The procedure is meant to adjust the tension of the tissue supporting the eyelids, so they stay in the proper position. The small incisions are usually hidden in skin creases so that any skin scarring is nearly invisible.
