Childhood Vision Issues
The CDC estimates that around 6.8% of American children under 18 years old have a diagnosed eye and vision condition. These can range from refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, to eye misalignments, droopy lids, or even cataracts in children. Eye conditions early in life can lead to amblyopia, or “lazy eye”, meaning the eye permanently will not see well.
Diagnosing and treating these conditions early is critical to the development of normal vision for the rest of their adult life. If there is a suspicion of blurred vision, or even just a strong family history of needing glasses, bring them to a location near you for an appointment.
Little Eyes Deserve The Best Care
Children often have difficulty knowing or describing their vision issues because they are unaware anything is wrong.
With a routine eye exam, we can detect vision issues your child may not realize they have. Once we know what’s affecting their vision, we can work with you to find a practical solution.
