Biography

Dr. David Portney is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who manages a wide range of ocular conditions, both medical and surgical. His areas of expertise include cataract and refractive surgery, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma management, and the treatment of dry eye and ocular surface disease. He also provides routine and emergency eye care. Dr. Portney believes in delivering care that is not only precise and evidence-based, but also deeply personal, treating the whole person—not just their diagnosis.

Dr. Portney’s commitment to excellence began during his extensive training at the University of Michigan, where he completed his undergraduate degree. He subsequently obtained his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Michigan. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center.

He prides himself on providing a thoughtful, seamless experience built on attentive service and clear, honest communication.
