Elizabeth Shanika Esparaz M.D., a native of Cleveland, completed her training in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal disease at Boston University. She offers her expertise in comprehensive eye care, as well as cataract surgery. She is also a fellowship-trained retina specialist, offering the latest technology in treatment for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal tears.
Dr. Esparaz is a graduate of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, where she was honored as one of the top medical students in her class by induction to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. In addition, she was awarded membership to the Gold Humanism Honor Society for recognition as an exemplar of compassionate patient care and as a role model, mentor, and leader in medicine. Dr. Esparaz has presented her work at national conferences and has published in several peer-reviewed journals. During her training, she was elected by her peers as an Ambassador for the Academy of Ophthalmology and served as a delegate on Capitol Hill. She also served as the Quality Initiative representative for the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center.
Married with two girls and a golden retriever, Dr. Esparaz enjoys many fitness activities, playing tennis, traveling, baking, and photography. She resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
