Dr. Marc Jones, M.D. is a nationally known leader in cataract and cornea surgery. Recognized in Best Doctors in America and as a Cleveland Magazine Top Doctor. He has been selected by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) multiple times to conduct important clinical studies on corneal transplantation and other eye conditions.
He serves as the Clinical Director at Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons and as the chairman of ophthalmology at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center. Dr. Jones has performed tens of thousands of cataract and LASIK procedures. He is an innovator in corneal transplantation, including DSAEK, DMEK and DALK. These incredibly delicate surgeries preserve the normal layers of the cornea and provide better vision and faster recovery.
Dr. Jones has trained at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world. After graduating first in his class in Chemical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, he earned his degree in medicine from Yale University. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, which is consistently rated as one of the top three ophthalmology programs in the United Stated by US News and World Reports. Dr. Jones then completed fellowship training in cornea, complex anterior segment surgery and refractive (LASIK) surgery. Dr. Jones scored in the top 1% of graduating eye surgeons on his board examinations.
Dr. Jones is dedicated to teaching our next generation of doctors. He’s an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University and an associate clinical professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He serves as the primary educator of corneal surgery at Summa Health Systems. He has received the “Teacher of the Year” award multiple times. He lectures both regionally and nationally.
Married with three children, Dr. Jones enjoys competitive tennis, cycling, woodworking, piano and photography.
