Biography

Dr. Siegel attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree where he received a B.S. in biomedical sciences with high distinction. He completed his medical degree at Michigan as well as part of the Inteflex program, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Prior to beginning his ophthalmology training, Dr. Siegel performed his internship in surgery and neurosurgery in Boston at the Tufts New England Medical Center. During his glaucoma fellowship, he was honored with both a Fight for Sight Research Fellowship endowment as well as being named a Heed Ophthalmic Fellow.

Dr. Siegel returned to his hometown of Detroit after finishing his post-graduate training and was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University followed by working many years to help grow and develop the Glaucoma Center of Michigan. He remains a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University, Michigan State University, and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. A Board Certified Ophthalmologist; he holds surgical privileges at Eye Surgery Center of Michigan, Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak, and Ascension Health.

A widely published author and speaker, Dr. Siegel has over 50 peer-review papers and presentations. He is actively involved in resident education with multiple training programs in Michigan and belongs to multiple organizations including the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Society of Heed Fellows, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Society.

He has a particular interest in complex glaucoma and cataract surgical procedures as well as astigmatic and extended focus implants for cataract surgery in both patients with and without glaucoma.
