Biography

Dr. Timothy S. Jarvi, a highly experienced ophthalmologist with over 29 years in private practice, has officially joined Specialty Eye Institute. He will be serving patients at their Jackson and Kalamazoo locations. Dr. Jarvi previously practiced in the Petoskey area.

He specializes in general ophthalmology with a focus on life-enhancing cataract surgery, utilizing advanced technology implants and drop-less recovery in most cases. Dr. Jarvi is fellowship-trained in Cornea/Cornea Transplant (including DMEK, DSAEK, PKP), Dry Eye, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery. He also holds fellowship-level training in Oculoplastics, performing a wide range of procedures such as functional and cosmetic blepharoplasty, tear drain system surgery, and eyelid trauma/cancer treatment. His skills extend to Glaucoma SLT laser, drainage valve surgery, and various YAG laser procedures (capsulotomy, iridotomy, vitreolysis for floaters, and facial/skin peel).

Dr. Jarvi earned his MD from Wayne State Medical School, completing his residency at Cook County Hospital and a specialized fellowship at Kresge Eye Institute. He is an American Board of Ophthalmology certified diplomat and is previously affiliated with Munson Charlevoix Hospital and McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital.

Beyond his practice, Dr. Jarvi is a passionate cycling enthusiast and co-owner of Touring Gear Bicycles in Harbor Springs, MI. He has maintained a lifelong interest in music and has sponsored the BlissFest Music Organization for over 30 years. His family originates from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula, both of which he continues to visit often.
