Macular degeneration (AMD or ARMD)- is a medical condition which may result in blurred or no vision in the center of the visual field.

Types of Macular Degeneration

The macula is the area of the eye responsible for your central vision. When this vital component breaks down, it can rob you of your ability to perform everyday activities like driving and reading. There are two types of macular degeneration: wet and dry.

Dry Macular Degeneration

Dry macular degeneration is typically caused by thinning macula tissues related to aging, which leads to gradual vision loss. This type can easily lead to wet macular degeneration.

Wet Macular Degeneration

Although less common, wet macular can quicken vision loss. Wet macular degeneration is caused by an abnormal formation of blood vessels in the retina, which ends up leaking blood and impairs vision.
